Ugandan-born Mrs. Universe UAE Nabukenya to help Karema in Miss World quest
Born and raised in Uganda but based in Dubai, Nabukenya was crowned the United Arab Emirates Mrs. Universe 2022/2023 in January this year.
Mrs. Universe is an international pageant that honors "the most honorable woman." The event is open to married, divorced, single, and widowed women from nations on all continents around the world, who are between the ages of 20 and 50, have a family and career, and are involved in a "significant cause"
Shortly after being crowned Mrs Universe UAE, the Ugandan model and influencer went on to participate in the global Mrs Universe Finals in Bulgaria where she emerged 5th out of 35 contestants. She also won the title for “Mrs Devoted” in the competition.
Now in Uganda on a charity mission, Nabukenya said she’s planning to reach out to Miss Uganda, Karema, to give her some pointers on how to navigate the fierce global competition in the upcoming Miss World race.
“I have not been able to meet her yet; at the time I came she had just been crowned and she was busy with her Miss Uganda activities. But we have contacted her and I am looking forward to meeting her,” Nabukenya said on Saturday, June 24.
“I would like to guide her on the roles and responsibilities of a queen, what being a queen means, and what to expect in the race out there. The situation here is not the same as outside, so I will share with her my knowledge and experience.”
Incidentally, the the Miss World 2023 pageant is taking place in Dubai, in December this year.
Last month, Karema came out and admitted that she doesn't fell prepared enough for the big stage.
“For now I cannot say I am not ready; I actually don't think there is someone who is ever ready for something like this. Even when you get on stage you can realize you need a little more training,” she said in an interview.
Meanwhile, Nabukenya says in the last weeks, she’s met other Ugandan queens including recently elected Miss Tourism Buganda Hannah Vanessa Nabakungulu, as well as the Little Miss Universe queens.
On Saturday, Nabukenya was the chief guest at the Little Miss Universe auditions 2023 at the National Theater.
Through her Charity Organization Trisha Testimonies Foundation, she has also held several outreaches in Apach where she gave out food to families, in Luwero where she supported orphaned children and in Kampala and other districts where she is donating sanitary pads and mama kits to young girls and women.
