A photo comparing the fashion sense of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho to that of his Homa Bay counterpart Cyprian Awiti has drawn the attention of many Kenyans on Twitter.
The comparison was made after Awiti, who has been ill, shared a photo in the company of Opposition leader Raila Odinga. The Governor was donned in oversized outfit and seemed a bit unkempt, something tweeps took a keen notice of.
Comparison
City lawyer Ahmednassir Abduallhi ignited the fire on twitter when he juxtaposed the dressing of Mr Awiti to that of Joho.
In a tweet, Mr Abdullahi made a below the belt remark stating that Awiti’s dress code does not befit that of a Governor.
"Finesse of a governor is an integral part of devolution...Gov Awiti of Homabay can't give hope or inspire confidence in his attire...and I don't think anyone can help him," he said.
"This photo sends a simple message...if one can't dress decently as a private matter...he can't manage the public affairs of a county...," he added.
Reactions
The lawyer’s remarks elicited an array of reactions with some, who were supporting his sentiments, noting that the Governor needs a stylist.
Others bashed Nassir stating that a Governor’s performance cannot be measured by how stylish their wardrobe was.
At the same time, others including former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga praised Awiti as a polite and humble man.
