Speaker of Ugandan Parliament Rebecca Kadaga is reportedly being sued by her alleged traditional healer, according to the privately owned newspaper Daily Monitor.

The traditional healer identified as Damiano Akuze wants UGX200m as damages from the Speaker for breach of contract.

He claims he gave Kadaga spiritual powers to become successful in her political career in 1990 when she approached him at his shrine in Buwala, Buganda Zone, Lulyambuzi Parish in Kamuli District.

Part of the lawsuit filed reads: "The defendant (Speaker Kadaga) requested the plaintiff (traditional healer) to work on her so that she would be given a big job in government and also be driven in a convoy like a president. The defendant did not have money to pay the plaintiff at the time. So the plaintiff accepted to work on her on condition that she would pay the plaintiff as soon as she got the job."

Akuze claims in his suit that Speaker Kadaga had promised to build him a house, buy him a construction truck, a plot of land and four cows -- all totalling to about UGX200m.

The ritualist alleges that he was only paid UGX1m for the 'job well done'.

Akuze said he will provide evidence during the trial to prove Kadaga breached the contract.

Kadaga hasn't filed her defence and there is no statement about the same.

In 2016, Kadaga controversially visited a shrine a day after she took her second oath as speaker of parliament saying she had gone to thank her ancestors.
