Ugandan singer Qute Kaye has apologised to his fans a day after he was caught stealing car headlights in Busega, a Kampala neighbourhood.
The singer says he is 'deeply sorry' and wants to be given another chance and be prayed for.
Kaye said he "can't explain what really happened" and that "he has few answers to the many questions".
"I want to apologise to all my fans, fellow musicians," he said.
He was arrested on Friday after surviving a mob and was briefly detained at Natete Police Station on charges of vandalism.
The singer was released on the same day after pleading guilty and asking for forgiveness.
His embarrassing situation prompted Mike Mukula, National Resistance Movement (NRM) vice chairperson for Eastern region and also the patron of Uganda Musicians Association, to offer to help him through rehabilitation.
Kaye's family said he has been to rehab more than three times but his situation, which is greatly affected by drug abuse and alcoholism, hasn't changed.
