Police say are concerned about Bobi Wine after abducting him from the airport
Police have issued a statement moments after blocking Kyadondo East MP Bobi Wine from travelling abroad for specialised treatment for the injuries he sustained during his brutal arrest in Arua, northern Uganda.
In a statement dated August 30th, police spokesperson Emilian Kayima confirms that Bobi Wine has been arrested and taken to Mulago Referral Hospital for medical examinations.
He adds that "police are concerned and wait for guidance from the relevant government department" since the 36-year-old lawmaker is on bail.
Bobi Wine was granted bail on August 27th by the Gulu Chief Magistrate and no travel documents will be deposited because he has no flight risk.
By the time of his arrest at the airport, he had spent two days at Lubaga Hospital where he checked himself out on Thursday.
His lawyer, Nicholas Opiyo, warned any medical doctor who conducts medical procedure on MPs Hon Zaake & Hon Bobi Wine without their consent.
He wrote that they "will be violating the hypothetical oath, the Medical & Dental Practitioners Act & the Code of Ethics for Medical & Dental Practitioner & will be personally pursued".
