Parents in Luuka district puzzled as their children go missing
The district LC5 chairman, Simon Wakaze, said several parents have approached him complaining about the disappearance of their underage daughters who went for entertainment on Christmas eve.
Wakaze said most of these girls were schooling, pleading with those hiding them to send them back to their parents’ homes or else an operation to crack them down will be launched.
“Parents have approached concerned that their young daughters are missing. I call upon those hiding the children to return them. These are underage girls who are innocent,” he said.
Wakaze said errant suspects will be arrested and charged with defilement.
There is growing concern from the public about the increasing rate of crime.
Recently, residents of Buwongo Trading centre in Makuutu sub-county in Bugweri were left in shock after a man hacked a colleague to death for allegedly having an affair with his girlfriend.
In the same month (December) three police officers in Lira District were arrested for allegedly shooting to death a 48-year-old woman while on duty.
The police officers whose names are being withheld for fear of jeopardising the investigations had rushed to rescue a one James Ango, a resident of Atongo-Kongo village, Itek sub-county in Lira district who was being beaten by a mob for allegedly stealing money.
Police in Rubanda district is also investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a couple.
It is alleged that on December 21, 2022, at about 19:00hrs, Mujuni Werreni, 45, was found murdered on the way to his house. His neighbour made an alarm, which attracted other residents to storm the scene of the crime. Also dead was his wife, whose name had not been revealed by press time.
