In an advert published in the local dailies, Mr. Kingi dismissed the widespread rumors as mere falsehood.

The Governor warned Kenyans against falling for the fake news noting that the relevant authorities were already investigating the matter in a bid to arrest perpetrators.

"There is a post appearing in social media alleging that H.E Governor Amason Jepha Kingi is giving out unsecured loans. This is to inform the public that the said post is false and does not come from the Governor as alleged.

"We, therefore, advise the public to ignore it as it is we have reported the matter to the authorities for investigation," the statement read.

This comes at a time the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) warned the public of two conmen dealing with gold.
