Kasese comes alive as Neon Rave closes Rwenzori Marathon

Kasese swapped running shoes for dancing shoes after the fifth Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon, as thousands of revellers stayed on for the Neon Rave on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

The celebration followed a marathon that attracted more than 8,000 runners. By evening, the focus had shifted from the finish line to music, dance and nightlife as residents, runners and visitors gathered for the post-race party.

Local performers opened the show before Cindy Sanyu and Pallaso took over as the headline acts.

Cindy drew cheers with some of her popular songs and stage performance, while Pallaso kept the crowd on its feet with a string of familiar hits.

The rave also gave runners a chance to relax after hours on the road. Uganda Breweries served Tusker Lite and other drinks from its portfolio throughout the night.

Tusker Lite brand manager Sandra Againe said the Neon Rave had become part of the wider marathon experience.

“The Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon has always been about more than the race itself. The Neon Rave has become a signature part of the experience, giving runners, fans and the people of Kasese an opportunity to come together, celebrate and truly own their Lite,” Againe said.

She said the fifth edition stood out because of the size and energy of the crowd.

“This fifth edition was particularly special to see, with thousands of people showing up, bringing incredible energy and making Kasese come alive,” she said.

The marathon has grown into more than a sporting event since its launch five years ago. It now combines athletics, tourism, entertainment and lifestyle while drawing visitors to Kasese and the Rwenzori region.

The Neon Rave closed a day in which runners tested themselves on the road before joining residents and music fans for an evening of entertainment.

For some, the party marked the end of months of training. Others came for the music and nightlife. Together, they turned the marathon weekend into one of Kasese’s biggest social events of the year.
