Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president Mugisha Muntu has issued a statement after a leaked document revealed that he has quit the opposition party.

Muntu has taken to social media for the "erroneously and prematurely released a draft statement" from his camp of his exit from the biggest opposition party in Uganda.
The 59-year-old former Ugandan army chief apologised saying he has "always been a firm believer in following one's principles" and will address a press briefing on Thursday on the same.
"We communicated to the FDC leadershio our decision to leave the party as the best way forward for all us," his statement reads
Muntu on Tuesday held a meeting with FDC leadership and presented findings and resolutions fro his 9 months consultation exercise.
