Minister Kaboyo Launches UPDF Anniversary Projects in Busoga
The events are held annually under the Tarehe Sita celebrations in February, commemorating the onset of the five-year guerilla warfare that led to the establishment of the NRA/NRM government.
Minister Kaboyo inaugurated a Health Center II and a classroom block in the Namayingo district, highlighting Busoga's role as this year's host for the festivities.
The celebration extended across all 11 districts of Busoga and Jinja City, showcasing the UPDF's commitment to building and refurbishing essential infrastructure and providing medical services and community outreach.
The theme for this year, "Celebrating Peoples' Struggle for Unity, Security, and Peace for Socioeconomic Transformation," encapsulates the UPDF's endeavors towards enhancing community welfare.
Hon Kaboyo reminisced about the historical importance of February 6th, 1981, as a pivotal moment in Uganda's political landscape, praising the National Resistance Army's (NRA) successful liberation effort, which transitioned into the UPDF, for its disciplined alliance with the Ugandan people.
She commended the UPDF for evolving into a force that consistently supports community development, reflecting the organization's foundational values set by H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa, the UPDF's Commander-In-Chief and one of its founders.
The Minister emphasized the UPDF's critical role in maintaining national peace and security, as well as its contributions to peacekeeping missions in Africa, fostering regional socio-economic progress.
Hon Kaboyo acknowledged the UPDF's participation in national development initiatives like Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), and its involvement in economic projects through entities like the National Enterprises Corporation (NEC) and Wazalendo SACCO.
She concluded by thanking the event's organizers, handing over the UPDF-donated projects to the community, and called for the responsible utilization of these resources. She also invited everyone to the forthcoming 43rd UPDF anniversary celebrations in Bugwere.
