LIST: Areas that will suffer power outages during UEDCL maintenance works
Several parts of Uganda will face planned power cuts this week as the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) carries out major upgrades to its electricity network.
The maintenance, which started on May 2 and runs until May 30, will see technicians replace damaged poles, clear overgrown vegetation, install new safety devices, and repair transformers.
The shutdowns will mostly happen during daytime hours.
Affected areas include Kampala, Jinja, Masindi, Lira, Kitgum, Mbarara, and Kasese. Key substations, industrial zones, trading centres, and rural communities will experience temporary outages.
In industrial hubs like Namanve, Jinja, and Kapeeka, the focus will be on fixing switchgear, repairing busbars, and adjusting load systems to handle growing electricity demand.
