Kenya scoops 6 awards at the Africa Music Viewers Choice Awards (Full list)
Kenya won big at the Africa Music Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), bagging six awards.
The awards took place this past Saturday in Nigeria with film makers, actors and actresses coming from all over the continent to attend the event.
This was the 6 annual AMVCAs and the main objective of the awards is to celebrate talent within the TV and Film industry across Africa.
Nominees battled it out in 27 categories with Kenya’s Nyce Wanjeri bagging the Best Actress in a comedy and TV Series for her role as Shiro in Auntie Boss and the 18 Hours film scooping three awards for themselves.
“I want to thank everyone who voted. This is my first time boarding a plane and I came to Nigeria and my first time to win an award thank you my executive producers Eve D’ Souza and Lucy Mwangi for believing in me. !”.

Mark Maina – 18 hours – Best Picture Editor
Dennis Wanjohi – The Flesh Business – Best Documentary
Sarika Hemi Lhakani – Supa Modo – Best Indigenous Language Movie or TV Series (Swahili)
Phoebe Ruguru – 18 hours – Best Movie East Africa
Nyce Wanjeri – Auntie Boss – Best Actress in a comedy and TV Series
Phoebe Ruguru – 18 hours – Best Overall Movie
