Kamene Goro reveals unknown details of her hardest bulletin as a news anchor

Kiss 100 presenter Kamene Goro has disclosed one of her hardest bulletins while she worked for Ebru TV as a news anchor.

Kamene said that just four months after joining Ebru TV, the then Prime Time news anchor Reena Shivisi was involved in an accident and she was called to step in for her.

She went on to say that the first story that night was about Reena’s death. The late Reena was a close friend to her and she even trained her to be a news anchor. This made it the hardest bulletin of her life.

“She was one of the people who trained me. She died on the same day and my first bulletin was about my dear friend. That was the hardest bulletin in my whole life,” said Kamene.

According to Kamene Goro she was the only English news anchor remaining at Ebru TV and she took up everything, from reading the news and going to the field to source for stories.

With the new role, she became the youngest prime time news anchor at only 21 years.

Depression

In the interview with True Love, Ms Goro also opened up on many other things including how she fell into depression and took sleeping pills to end her life.

Ms Goro explained that she took about 70 sleeping pills in the quest to end her life following the frustrations, but few minutes later she regretted the decision.

“Towards the end of my marriage I was depressed. I popped about 70 sleeping pills to end it all. But just when I started to feel woozy, I heard a still voice asking, do you not trust me handle this for you. Thankfully there was an AAR a few doors from where I lived. I drove myself there and got my stomach pumped.”
