These are John Kibuuka, John Masajjage, Dan Kesekka, and Nasur Abdullah

Kagezi was assassinated on the evening of July 14, 2015, while she was returning to her home in Kiwatule from work.

The assailants, who were riding on a motorcycle opened fire and killed her instantly when she had stopped to buy groceries.

The four suspects, who had no legal representation were not allowed to take a plea, since the magistrates court has no jurisdiction for such capital offenses.

They were as such remanded to Luzira Prison until November 20, when the case will come up against for mention.

President Yoweri Museveni last weekend was first to announce the arrest of the suspects.

He described the arrest as a “good success.”

Scores of state representatives attended Monday’s court session and expressed hope that justice would be served for their departed colleague.

We are happy that this day has come,” said Irene Nakimbugwe the Deputy Spokeswoman of the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution.

We hope that justice will be served for the sake of the family and for all of us who had our friend taken from us.

At least 20 people have been arrested and charged for the murder of Kagezi, majority of whom however, have been released.

Only two of the suspects have been convicted for unrelated aggravated robbery charges.
