Day one of the event was hosted by Isaac Rucci ,comedian Mark Agaba and Karitas Karisimbi. Peace Mutuuzo the current minister for Labour, Gender, and Social Development officiated the awards night.
Some of the biggest winners were Moses Matovu, the founder of Afrigo Band winning the Lifetime Achievement Award, Buganda’s Prime Minister Charles Peter Mayiga, Prof Patrick Ogwang founder of Covidex and television star Edwin Katamba aka MC Kats.
There were also performances from different artists like Karole Kasita and A Pass, Mad Rat & Chico, Jowi Landa, Mudra, and Mr Eezzy.
During the event, Operation Wealth Creation [OWC] director, Sylvia Owori spearheaded the awards event thanked Gen Salim Saleh the Chief Coordinator of OWC, for his support in ensuring growth of the creative and performing arts industry.
The event was graced by the government Chief Whip, Thomas Tayebwa, and in his remarks, he said “The government is setting up 21 industrial parks and I will discuss with the fountain of honor to dedicate one of them to the creative industry. The Janzi Awards are here to facilitate the development of the creative industry for all.” he added.
Mozey Radio received the Outstanding Legendary Artist Award and it was received by the late’s baby mama Lillian Mbabazi.
