The government of Uganda on Tuesday announced that 25 agencies, commissions and authorities will be dissolved and merged.

The move is aimed at aligning functions, plans and budget of the government institutions for efficiency -- and also cutting expenditure.

Several hundreds of employees, including over 70 executive directors, will lose their jobs during the restructuring process.

How is the government going to merge these agencies?

The minister of ICT and National Guidance said the merger will take effect when the legal framework has been harmonized.
