Hilderman is deadweight, he’ll slow us down - Kenzo
Kenzo, born Edirisa Musuuza finally opened up on why he doesn't want to work with Mawokota North MP Hilary Kiyaga aka Dr Hilderman on hammering the copy right law through the Executive.
He said the NUP legislator might not be able to convince the government to expedite the amendment bill.
“The reason we decided to do what we are doing (federate) in a non-poltical way, is because we realized that Mr Hilderman is asking through the Office of the Leader of Opposition which might bring some delays,” Kenzo said.
“The people he’s trying to remove from power are the ones he is asking the copyright law from, which might cause some conflict of interest.”
In July last year, Parliament granted leave to Dr Hilderman to draft the Copyright and Neighboring Rights Amendment Bill.
Government however, took over the bill and sent it to Law Reform Commission to be panel beat together with the author and the opposition leadership.
Recently, during the funeral service of artist Paul Kato Lubwama, both the Prime Minister of Uganda Hon Robinah Nabbanja and Works Minister Gen Katumba Wamala sought to allay the fears of the artists, promising that Cabinet is ready to clear the law and send it to Parliament.
However, Kenzo says he and his federation will not await on the opposition led endeavor.
Instead, he invited Hilderman to come and join them in the federation so they can all push together.
