Former Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura has been charged with 3 counts of repatriation of Rwandan dissidents, illegally issuing firearms to civilian groups and failing to protect military material.
Kayihura pleaded not guilty to all the charges preferred against him by the military court sitting in Makindye.
Denied Bail
The military court on Friday denied granting the former Inspector General of Police bail.
His lawyers said his long detention was not in conformity with "our laws". They cited cases of the late Kazini and Shaban Bantariza that the court can exercise its discretion & entertain verbal bail application.
The chairperson of the military committee requested the lawyers to formally apply for bail which will be heard on 28th August.
Case adjourned
The case against President Museveni's close aide has been adjourned to September 4th for mentioning.
He has been further remanded to Makindye military barracks where he has been detained since his arrest.
