Former Education PS and Kenya’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to UNESCO Paris Prof George Imbanga Godia has passed on.

Godia’s illustrious career also saw him serve as the PS in the Ministry of Education where he is credited with several reforms and hailed as a visionary leader who was highly committed, motivated and driven by results.

After a stint in the ministry of Education, he was appointed the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kenya to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) in Paris.

Godia passed on at his Nairobi home on Saturday morning after a short illness.

His brother Fanuel Godia confirmed his death, stating that “He just collapsed in his house.”

He also served the country as a board member/director at the Central Bank of Kenya and member of the National Transport Policy Committee, among others.

Godia rose from the ranks at Moi University, First serving as a lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor and full Professor respectively.

He also served as the Dean, Institute for Human Resource Development at the same institution.
