'Errant' FDC members will face punishment, says party president Amuriat
Amuriat told journalists at their Najjanakumbi office on Wednesday, July 19, 2019 that it is not appropriate to make charges against the party without evidence.
According to Amuriat, Ssemujju has failed to uphold the organisation's image and will face disciplinary action with Lukwago.
"As president of the FDC, I'm going to move for disciplinary action to be taken against these errant colleagues of ours," Amuriat stated.
Similarly, he said that Erias Lukwago, the deputy president in charge of the Buganda region, has failed to implement party activities in the region, accusing him of bouncing from political party to political party in search of experience.
"They've said a lot of things they can't prove, oblivious to the fact that they have skeletons in their closets that we can prove. The Lord Mayor's record is clear; he jumps from one institution to another for political experience," he continued.
Amuriat said they would obey the party constitution without divulging the acts.
While Amuriat was speaking to journalists on Monday, Lukwago was in Kampala with former FDC president Kizza Besigye for another simultaneous press conference.
On Monday, another FDC group led by party spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda and deputy president Erias Lukwago accused the party of receiving funds from President Museveni to fund the 2021 elections.
Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the party’s secretary general, accused Ssemujju of being a beneficiary of the state too.
"Ssemujju is the biggest beneficiary of government money. As chief whip, he was given 200 metres.Erias Lukwago is a Saleh project. Ask yourself why he didn't go to court when the cheating leaked. He's known for suing over the smallest things. Why didn't he sue Saleh?" Mafabi
He added: "Ssemujju preaches water and drinks wine. He accuses Museveni of nepotism. But as Chief Whip at Parliament, he employed his own relatives."
