Tortured musician-turned-MP Bobi Wine has been charged afresh with treason at the Gulu Chief Magistrates Court.
The military court on Thursday set the legislator free after losing interest in the charge of illegal possession of firearms -- it also terminated court proceedings against him.
Bobi Wine was later rearrested by security operatives and taken to Gulu Magistrate's Court where he was formally charged with treason.
“It is alleged that on August 13, 2018, with an intent to harm the president of Uganda, you threw stones and smashed the windscreen of one of his vehicles," Gulu Chief Magistrate read

Remanded
Gulu court magistrate Yunus Ndiwalana remanded Bobi Wine and co-accused until August 30 at Gulu main prison. He joins other 32 people, including politicians who were arrested in Arua a week ago.
Access to private doctors
The magistrate directed that the accused be allowed access to their private doctors saying "court can't sit back and watch the health of the accused deteriorate".
“I have looked at him and believe this court as custodian of justice can’t sit back as his health is deteriorating".
