Popular musician-turned-lawmaker Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, Kevin Lubega, Brian Mutebi and Humphrey Nabimanya have been named among the 100 Most Influential Young Africans list.
The list was released by Africa Youth Awards which seeks to "appreciate the works of young Africans in Africa and the diaspora". The awards have been running since 2014.
Last year, comedian Anne Kansiime was the only Ugandan to feature on the Most Influential Young Africans list.
Bobi Wine
This musician-turned-MP has become the face of opposition, barely two years after he was elected in office.
The 36-year-old lawmaker has become the face of opposition after playing a significant role in securing victories for opposition MPs against the ruling government.
In August, he was brutally arrested and allegedly tortured by Ugandan soldiers over allegations of stoning the president's vehicle.
Bobi Wine caused an international outcry as netizens used the hashtag #FreeBobiWine to pressurize the government to release him and get treatment for the injuries sustained.
Humphrey Nabimanya
Nabimanya is the founder and team leader of Reach A Hand Uganda, is a youth-led nonprofit organization based in Uganda. It advocates for Sexual Reproductive Health Rights of young people.
He is also a team leader of Young Achievers Awards which seeks to recognise and celebrate outstanding youth in Uganda in the fields of art, entrepreneurship, media and journalism, philanthropy, innovation among others.
Kevin Lubega
He is the General Manager of EzeeMoney, a platform that eases digital transactions in Uganda. EzeeMoney is turning over about $50 million annually, according to Digest Africa.
This 28-year-old was named selected by Forbes Africa to join their Under 30 Class of 2018 of most promising young entrepreneurs in Africa.
Brian Mutebi
Mutebi is the Executive Director of Education and Development Opportunity in Uganda, a charity organisation that aims at transforming the lives of people through education.
He also established the Brian Mutebi Dream Scholarship Fund which benefits the needy, orphans and vulnerable children and youth, survivors of domestic or gender based violence and teenage mothers.
