Kyambadde has confirmed that she will be jumping back in the race to reclaim the Mawokota seat which she lost to Hilderman in 2021.
Over the past months, the 69-year-old has gone on the offensive, accusing Hilderman of failing to deliver on his promises of transforming the people of Mawokota.
Appearing on a talk show on NTV this Saturday morning, Kyambadde added age to her criticism of Hilderman.
She said the musician-turned-politician was too young and confused to properly understand the needs of the people he represents.
“His leadership has been weak and I don't blame him because a person at that age, at times you are not sure of what to do,” Kyambadde said.
“But as a leader, you need a certain level of maturity; you have to grow in your level of thinking and become more selfless.
“The needs of a young person are different from those of a mature person like me. As an older person, you don't have a lot of greed for wealth; your thoughts are always with the people and trying to change your community.”
Kyambadde further drew a contrast between her 10 years in parliament and Hilderman’s three, noting that development in their constituency has gone down since she left.
She noted for instance that when she was MP, she had managed to lobby for funds through her Twezimbe Development Foundation and set up a hospital for HIV patients, offer student scholarships and trainings for youths and women, and support schools and places of worship among others.
Yet according to the former Minister, all that Hilderman does is attend people’s funerals and wedding
“He unfortunately thinks that that is one way of serving his people,” she said.
Kyambadde says she has recently been “begged” by many constituents who what her back as their representative.
