The accident which involved a 14-seater matatu and a lorry occurred just a few minutes before 11pm.

Among those who perished included children in the head-on collission.

According to witnesses at the scene, six people died on the spot, while 3 others on the way to Kijabe Mission Hospital.

Separate crash

In another separate incident, four people died while five others sustained injuries after a lorry veered off the road in Roret, Kericho County, on Tuesday evening.

According to The Nation, the driver of the lorry ferrying sand from Sondu in Kisumu County lost control of the vehicle running over three pedestrians on the Roret-Sigowet road.

The fourth victim was killed inside a cyber cafe.
