Three police officers attached to Kayole police station have been arrested minutes after stealing more than Kshs. 6 million shillings in form of dollars in a daring robbery.

Citizen TV reports that CPL Wilson Cheruiyot, PC Daniel Kipkorir and PC Alex Kandie were part of a gang or armed gunmen who stormed into a hotel in Eastleigh and ordered two occupants surrender all the money in their possession.

The victims identified as Mohammed Hassan and Abdullahi Yusuf reportedly surrender the Ksh.6 million that was in form of Dollars but raised the alarm shortly after the gangsters left.

Police who were on patrol responded swiftly only to find that the gangsters were their colleagues from Kayole and a Cameroonian national, Esome Jean Babtist.

Part of the stolen cash amounting to Ksh.3.5 million was recovered from the rogue officers together with a pocket phone.

Two other suspects managed to escape during the 1:30 AM incident, taking away 2.5million that was part of the loot.

Among those who escaped is yet another rogue officer believed to be a Mr. PC Mwaniki from Kayole police station and a police informer working closely with the law-enforcers.

A manhunt has been launched for the suspects with Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) operatives joining the search.

The rogue cops are in lawful police custody at Pangani police station and will be arraigned in court on Monday.
