Tayebwa mourns fallen banker Kahenano

Joram Kahenano, who passed away last week on October 6 was not only a veteran banker but also played a key role in Uganda's education sector.

Tayebwa, accompanied by his wife, attended the funeral service of Kahenano at All Saints Cathedral, Nakasero, Kampala.

The Deputy Speaker extended his sympathies to Kahenano's wife, Aunt Lillian Kahenano, and their son, Arthur Kahenano, noting the familial connection, as his wife is a niece to Lillian.

"The country has lost a true patriot who dedicated most of his life to the government, serving the country in different capacities," Tayebwa said.

Tayebwa further praised his critical role at the Central Bank, where he effectively managed the nation’s monetary policy during challenging economic times.

"His integrity and love for Uganda will be greatly missed," Tayebwa stated.

Serving as the Chairman of the Council at Victoria University, Kahenano was remembered for his visionary leadership and contributions to the university's growth and mission.

Dr. Lawrence Muganga, the Vice-Chancellor of Victoria University, announced Kahenano’s passing with deep sorrow, calling upon the university community to unite in mourning and support each other during this difficult time.

Beyond his association with Victoria University, Kahenano held the position of Non-Executive Director at I&M Bank Uganda.

With an extensive career in banking and finance, his leadership and strategic insights were regarded as instrumental in shaping the financial operations of the institutions he served. At I&M Bank, his role was pivotal, contributing significantly to the bank’s direction and operations.
