The MP is expected tomorrow, August 6th to appear before the Buhweju Chief Magistrates Court to answer to answer to a charge of ”inciting violence.”

You are hereby commanded by the Uganda Government to appear in the court on the 6th day of August 2024 at 9 am or soon after that as the case can be heard,” the summons read in part.

Hon Mwijukye is being accused of instigating a land-related brawl which happened on May 13 at Rwanyamabare Catholic Church.

The legislator had gone to listen to concerns from Christians regarding the alleged grabbing of church land.

A group of people armed with machetes and other deadly weapons raided the church and hacked the MP and other church members.

The MP was rushed to Nakasero Hospital with head injuries before being referred to Nairobi where he was admitted for nearly two months.

After being discharged, he returned to his constituency on July 19th amid pomp and celebration from his support.

The MP believes the May incident was politically orchestrated.

He also blames the Buhweju Police for being part of what he termed as a conspiracy.

The victim is now the criminal,” Mwijukye posted on social media.

The Buhweju OC CID, Resident State Attorney vs Hon Mwijukye Francis and the people of Buhweju. We shall overcome,” he added.
