The former FDC stalwart is reported to have been driving himself.
Police says the accident happened last night at around 11:50 pm at Lubenge swamp in Nakasongola
“Prof Latigo was heading to Kampala while the truck also in the same direction was destined for the Victoria Sugar plant located in Luwero,” said Sam Twineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson.
Twineamazima says that during the accident, Professor Latigo sustained injuries and Police rushed him to Bishop Ceaser Asili Hospital for treatment
He added police have since launched a manhunt for the truck driver for causing the accident.
This is now the fifth time that Latigo has survived a car crash.
In January 2019, his car overturned while en route to Kitgum, near Kalongo village. This incident followed a similar one in January 2011 when he was involved in an accident on the Gulu-Kampala Highway in Kiryandongo district, resulting in the unfortunate death of a pedal cyclist.
Back in October 2009, the professor narrowly escaped a fatal accident along the same Kampala-Gulu Highway, although his driver, Sam Tabu Onyenya, and a young woman named Innocent Awor tragically lost their lives.
On January 30, 2018, another incident occurred when Professor Latigo's vehicle with registration number UAV 269K collided with an unmarked trailer parked along Kampala Highway in Kakooge, Luwero District. Despite these repeated brushes with danger, Professor Latigo has continued to defy the odds and survive.
