2023 has seen some interesting world records, especially in Africa. We have watched Nigeria's Hilda Baci set the new World Record for the World's Longest Cooking Marathon, Tembu Embere's attempts to cry for 100 hours, and an attempt at breaking the record of the World's longest full-body massage which ended on a concerning note.

In Uganda, Phaneroo church ministries' Clap For Jesus Team led by Grace Lubega, set a new record for the World's longest applause at 3 hr 16 min 1 sec, on 30 July 2023.

Joshua Cheptegei struck gold for the 10,000 metres run at the Budapest athletics championships on August 20, 2023. The 26-year-old currently holds the world record for the fastest run 10,000 metres (male) which he set at 26 minutes 11.00 seconds in Valencia Spain, in 2020. The previous record had been standing since 2005. He also set new records for the 5 km and 5,000 metres.

78 per cent of Uganda's population is under 30 years making Uganda the youngest country in the world. Ugandans have the lowest median average age of any country in the world at 15.1 years (15 years for men and 15.2 years for women).

The rolex; chapatti, rolled egg omelette and vegetables, is a Ugandan breakfast delicacy usually served on roadsides. On 4th November 2021, 26-year-old Raymond Kahuma created the largest Uganda rolex weighing 204.6 kg and measured at 2.32 metres. Kahuma and his team prepared for months to set this record.
