Rema halts video premiere as tributes pour in for Evelyn Lagu

Namakula announced, following the passing of Lagu, that she was halting the release of the video of her new song ‘Tonyt,’ which was set today, Monday, September 18.

Out of respect for my fallen sister Evelyn Lagu, I have decided to pause the premiere of Tonyt video which was meant to happen in a few minutes,” she wrote.

Will update you friends but in the meantime mukama bwatyo bwageze (so has God decided). Rest well Evelyn Lagu mukwano.”

Eddy Kenzo, President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) announced the sad news.

Spice Diana wrote, “My Evlyn RIP Mama . Webare kungumya nga, kunsabiranga. My heart is melting now. Tubadde twesubiza binji nyoo . But you have fought such a good battle. The most strong human I have ever seen, with so much hope. Kept the faith. RIP Mukwano.”

Music legend John Segawa used scripture to sound off on people who might have held judgment against the deceased artist while she lives, citing Romans 14:7-10.

Singer Nubian Li posted; “You did put up a good fight for dear life. May God grant you everlasting eternal peace Evelyn Lagu.”

Politicians too, such as Mukono MP Betty Nabooze and Kawempe North’s Muhammad Ssegirinya among others also shared their condolences.
