Reason? She thinks it is unfair to disrupt an entire show because of the acts of one or a few ill-mannered fans.

Vinka, real names Veronica Luggya, is famously remembered for kicking a fan who touched her improperly during a show in South Sudan. This was back in May 2021.

But nowadays, she says, she will simply ignore such handsy fans for the sake of others who paid to be at the show.

I like to see my fans happy; I don't like losing my cool because of just one fan. That is why for me I just carry on and sing; I don't even try to address it because it's just one person,” said the 'Bailando' singer in an interview with the Diaspora Connect.

The artist was reacting in the interview, to the debate sparked by fellow Swangz Avenue singer Winnie Nwagi, who at different recent shows, physically and verbally attacked fans who touched her while on stage.

At one of the shows, Nwagi repeatedly hit a fan with a microphone before she stormed off stage.

Vinka said vulgar fans have put female artists in a difficult situation.

Honestly, no one is happy to be groped, especially if this person is not your partner,” she said.

There are some fans who are genuinely overwhelmed and they just want to touch you and see if you are real, but then others just go to the extreme. The truth is we cannot stop it because some of us were raised differently, now we ask ourselves if we should try not to come close to you,” she said.

Vinka adds that she feels lucky that her husband is very very patient and understanding by allowing her to carry on with her shows even after seeing what she goes through with fans.
