For the better part of her career, the songstress, whose real name is Tracy Kirabo, has been supported by men, so this prompted Mr. Henrie, who was interviewing her to ask if she had female friends.

Some of the men who played a crucial role in her growth in the industry, include producer Kusseim, Ragga Dee and Eddy Kenzo.

Pia Pounds grew up singing in church and her elder half-brother was a singer (upcoming), so she used to accompany him studio. The studio, named West End Studios, was owned by Aziz Azion and was located in Makindye. While here, she backed up some artistes.

They later moved to Ragga Dee's studio (DV Records) in 2010 at the age of 14. She was at Lubiri S.S. in S.3. One day Ragga Dee came and sang the song she had written. It's called Just the Way You Are. They ended up collaborating and she didn't meet him until they were shooting the video of the song

It was released in 2011 and she was 15 when they filmed the video in her S.4 vacation. During S.4 vacation, she worked with the Insurance Company of East Africa as a salesperson.

While there, she met a man who offered to sponsor her first song. He paid for the recording of the song at Jahlive where she met Kusseim, the producer.

They started recording songs but nothing materialised. She later lost contact with Kusseim because of school.

Then in her second year at university, one New York who was working with Big Talent called her and took her to Big Talent. Kusseim had switched to Big Talent. This was October 2016.

She met Kenzo who offered to work with her. But a year passed before nothing materialised and she got anxious. Kusseim kept on encouraging her.

By the time she got signed in 2018, she had recorded about 14 songs. She left Big Talent after she started coming under attack from fans of Rema, Kenzo's baby mama, who thought she was dating Kenzo.

One day she had her hair pulled at Wave Lounge. Those who attacked her were referring to Rema and Kenzo.

She said Tupaate, which was released in September 2020 and became a massive hit in April 2021, changed her life financially. She, however, believes Taala was her breakthrough song though most industry observers would say Tupaate.
