LIST: 6 celebrities who studied Music, Dance, Drama

Bebe Cool has mocked Bobi Wine for having a diploma in Music, Dance and Drama (M.D.D.), but there are many admirable people who have benefited from studying the program.

During their Talk and Talk Show on Dembe F.M., Isaac Daniel Katende ( Kasuku), Jenkins Mukasa and Eddie Sendi named some of the celebrated artistes that graduated with a degree or diploma in M.D.D.

Sendi started with Dr. Charles Mulekwa, who is now a lecturer at the School of Liberal and Performing Arts at Makerere University.

"A very successful person from a humble background," said Sendi about Dr. Mulekwa.

He has a Ph.D. in Theatre Arts and Performance Studies.

Some of Dr. Charles Mulekwa's achievements are serving as a Cultural Consultant for the award-winning film about the Idi Amin legacy, The Last King of Scotland in 2005 – and participating in the making of a Walt Disney Film about a Ugandan Chess playing girl-wonder, Queen of Katwe.

Eddie Sendi also named Hajji Abbey Mukibi Nkaaga, a multi-award-winning actor, comedian, director, producer and radio personality.

Hajji Mukibi was an actor in The Last King of Scotland and has also played roles in various globally acclaimed movies like The Mercy of the Jungle and Sometimes in April, both of which are about the Rwandan genocide of 1994; Imperial Blue and the Golomadi.

Mariam Ndagire, who was also named by Sendi -- currently owns a film school (the Mariam Ndagire Film and Performing Arts Centre) and has featured in various TV programs and movies as a showrunner, writer and actor.

Silver Kyagulanyi is one of the top songwriters in the country.

While he currently holds a Post Graduate Diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre (LDC), he started with a degree in Music, Dance and Drama, specialising in music.

"When you are looking for serious, successful musicians and songwriters, he is up there," said Sendi. "If we had a wall of fame, his name would feature."

Mukasa named Hannington Bugingo, the managing director of Fun Factory Uganda and founding president of The Uganda Comedians Association (TUCA).

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Drama from Makerere University.

Sendi noted that there are many graduates in MDD who are now teachers, P.R. managers and business personalities.
