Diana was lambasted in late May by fellow celebrities, media personalities and fans for sharing pictures of bed-ridden Lagu, which were deemed insensitive.
Lagu, who suffers from a severe kidney condition, was undergoing what appeared to be a dialysis procedure in the pictures and videos shared by Diana.
Critics were unhappy that in her attempt to show care and generosity, Diana ended up publicising her friend to the world in her lowest stages of life.
Lagu however, this week lept in defense of her friend, calling her attackers to back off.
“She was just taking a picture; I don't know why people are so pissed about it because at least she came to see me. Those people who are quarreling, I have never seen them here,” Lagu charged
For celebrities like her and Diana, the ‘Ogumanga’ singer said, cameras and keeping it in touch with fans is not optional.
“If she’s come to check on her friend she has to document that. If she doesn't come, you people will accuse her of not helping, and now she’s come and you are beating her up. We are celebrities; we are in the limelight and everything is about cameras,” she said.
Lagu was speaking to reporters at a housewarming party for her brand new house she built with help from her friends in Bujuuko. The event also coincided with her 41st birthday.
She revealed that Catherine Tash, a friend of hers based in the Netherlands donated the land where the house was built with donations from church goers and well wishers.
Lagu said she was pleased that even if she doesn't live much longer, her son has a place to call home.
