It’s just a ladies’ fight; I’d be hurt more if it was a male artist - King Michael on parallel shows

Michael said he was not very disappointed by the artists trying to ruin his show, “because they are just two ladies fighting their own wars.”

The concerts, one by Sheebah Karungi and another by Cindy Sanyu, have been slated for September 15th, which had earlier been picked by Michael to mark his return to the music scene.

The ‘Lido Lido’ singer also planned the concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval to mark 20 years in the music industry.

Sounding a bit more relaxed than last week, Michael said yesterday, Monday, that he was not very disappointed by the two fellow artists trying to ruin his show, “because they are just two ladies fighting their own wars.”

He said he would have been much more dismayed if it was a fellow male artist.

The good thing is that these are two ladies who are competing,” Michael told the media last night.

I would have been more hurt if it was a fellow male artist who put a concert on my date; but these are just ladies. Sheebah is a lady, Cindy is a lady. They are fighting their own fight; they have their own fans and I do have mine,” he said.

The clash between the two ladies, Sheebah and Cindy seems to only be getting started. Both have announced Kololo Independence Grounds at their concert venue, and it remains to be seen who will give way.

On Monday, July 24, Sheebah sent out a barbed message to Cindy in which she appeared to liken her to a “Nokia” phone, and herself an iPhone.”

But while this battle rages, King Michael warns that there is much more at stake.

He noted that the two women seem to have forgotten about their responsibilities as leaders of fellow artists.

Cindy is the President of the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) while Sheebah is the Vice President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF).

“What they have done, putting their concerts on my day when one is a leader of the association and the other of the federation, it is like they are ganging up against me as a mere artist. The fans are looking at this and it is not good,” he said.

Michael also lambasted the rest of the leadership of the music bodies for looking on and doing nothing.

The federation pretends like they are not seeing what is happening, but they should know that September 15 is just one day; it will come and go, but what will happen next afterwards?”

If his show was to flop because of this, Michael says he’s not worried because it wouldn't be the first time.

He adds that many people have come to him advising him to reschedule his show, but says his fans have insisted that he sticks to September 15.
