Uganda is participating in the exhibition, represented by a delegation from the Buganda Kingdom, Bic Tours, and the Uganda Mission in Tokyo. The Buganda Kingdom is spotlighting aspects of its cultural heritage, focusing particularly on the Kasubi Tombs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Tourism Exhibition of Japan (TEJ) for 2024 officially opened yesterday, 26th September, at Big Sight in Tokyo, the exhibition's regular venue. This year’s event runs under the theme “Travel, An Encounter with New Value Awaits,” aiming to inspire the public to travel, explore new cultures, and promote the forthcoming World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
The Tombs are a key historical and cultural attraction in Uganda, showcasing the traditions and heritage of the Buganda Kingdom, one of the largest and most influential traditional kingdoms in the country.
Bic Tours, a leading Ugandan tourism company, and the Uganda Embassy in Tokyo are promoting Uganda's tourism potential and investment opportunities in the sector.
Showcasing Uganda's potential
With Uganda known for its diverse wildlife, scenic landscapes, and rich cultural heritage, the exhibition provides a platform to highlight its many attractions and draw interest from Japanese tourists and investors.
Joining the Ugandan exhibitors is Ms. Kaori of Gorilla Highland Coffee, who is presenting Arabica Coffee from the Kisoro Highlands of Uganda. By serving and promoting this premium Ugandan coffee at the exhibition, Kaori aims to increase the visibility and appreciation of Ugandan products in Japan, enhancing the country's cultural and economic ties with the Japanese market.
The TEJ 2024 exhibition is scheduled to run until 30th September, offering attendees a unique opportunity to discover Uganda's diverse tourism offerings, cultural heritage, and investment opportunities. The event aims to motivate participants to explore different destinations and experiences, while concurrently promoting the upcoming World Expo 2025 in Japan.
Running alongside the exhibition is a meeting of Tourism Ministers from Japan and participating countries, offering a platform for discussion and collaboration on tourism development, marketing, and international travel opportunities.
