SSP Jackson Mucunguzi came under fire after he posted pictures of KFM and NTV presenter Faiza Salima, who was arrested in the Tuesday ‘Stop Corruption March to Parliament.’
Mucunguzi implied in the post that Salima, better known as Faiza Fabz would sexually arouse police officers at the station where she was detained because of her beauty.
“She is going to make our officers salute faa down there. Some clients are more of a problem to our lower cadres on the ground,” read the post on X which has since been deleted.
Faiza, who presents D’Mighty Breakfast show on 933 KFM and Sweet Treats on NTV was arrested with her colleagues on Tuesday, as they prepared to join other protesters for the march to parliament. She was detained at Jinja Road Police Station from where she was taken with other detainees to the Nakawa Magistrates Court.
Many social media users called out Mucunguzi to be suspended from police over his comments.
“These are the police officers we have to contend with! Wabula mutufuze bubi!,” wrote one Samantha Mwesigye.
Another user, Jamil Mujuzi wondered whether Mucunguzi should not be “expelled with disgrace from the police.’
Under pressure, Mucunguzi deleted the posts and issued an apology, stating that he was only complementing Faiza on her beauty.
“Apologies to my followers on this X highway who got me out of context for our sister celeb Faiza,” he said.
“Like the majority of you fellow men, I also appreciated her beauty unfortunately in a comic way which I'm singularly sorry about. I will meet her in person soon 4 further, management.”
Mucunguzi, who launched his career in police as a vibrant Station OC at Makerere University has risen through the ranks, serving as the DPC at Wandegeya and Jinja Road before being moved to the Human Resources Department at the Police Headquarters in Naguru.
