The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has unveiled its comprehensive roadmap for the upcoming 2026 elections, with a series of strategic milestones leading up to the vote.

The electoral journey will kick off on April 24, 2025, with the nomination of both LC1 flag bearers and village party structure officials, marking the beginning of the party's election preparations.

Following the nominations, the campaigning period for both LC1 and Party village structure contestants will begin on May 1, 2025. This will be followed by the electing of LC1 flag bearers and village party structure officials on May 6, 2025, and the voting of LC2 Parish structure executives on May 12, 2025.

On May 16, 2025, party members will elect Subcounty party structure leaders, while district conferences will be held on May 25, 2025, to elect district party leaders.

A key phase of the NRM election preparations will be the nomination period for aspiring Members of Parliament, LC5 chairpersons, and district councillors, scheduled for June 2, 2025.

This will be followed by a period of campaigns by candidate Members of Parliament, LC5 chairpersons, and district councillors from July 1, 2025, ahead of the election of Members of Parliament on July 16, 2025.

On July 24, 2025, NRM will elect LC5 chairpersons and district councillors, while on July 28, 2025, aspiring LC3 chairpersons and councillors will pick their nomination forms.

In the coming months, there will be crucial preparatory meetings for the CEC and NEC prior to the National Delegates Conference on August 1, 2025. Key moments to look out for include the nominations of LC3 chairpersons and councillors on August 5, 2025, and the election of LC3 chairpersons on August 15, 2025. The NRM will also conduct the voting of LC3 councillors by August 18, 2025.

In the latter half of 2025, the list of all party flag bearers in Uganda will be submitted to the National Electoral Commission (NEC) by August 20, 2025. Subsequently, the National Delegates Conference will elect leaders for the Central Executive Committee and Presidential flag bearers on August 22, 2025. The NRM Presidential Candidate will be forwarded to the NEC on August 26, 2025.

The final election preparations will begin in September 2025, with the vetting of vote protectors set to kick off on September 1, 2025. The NRM is set to conclude its election roadmap with the presentation for the nomination of the Presidential Candidate on October 2, 2025.

This roadmap lays out a clear and organized schedule for the NRM as it prepares for the 2026 elections. It highlights the party’s commitment to ensuring a fair, orderly, and inclusive electoral process while maintaining its traditional political dominance.
