Makerere University has announced an extension for the application deadline for direct entry applicants seeking private sponsorship for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The Academic Registrar, Charles Ssentongo, stated that the deadline has been extended from 20th May to 27th May 2025. This update allows prospective students additional time to submit their applications.
Applicants who have already applied are not required to reapply.

Government-sponsored admission lists released
Last month, Makerere University released the admission lists for students admitted under government sponsorship for the 2025/2026 academic year.
These lists include the names of candidates accepted into various programmes at both Makerere University and Makerere University Business School (MUBS).
The admissions were determined based on merit, reflecting the candidates’ performance in the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations. Alongside the admission lists, the university published the official cut-off points used in the selection process.
