Gen Kainerugaba Promotes 3 Brigadiers to Major General

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has promoted three Brigadier Generals to the ranks of Acting Major General.

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has promoted three Brigadier Generals to the ranks of Acting Major General.

Those promoted are Charles Byanyima, Deus Sande, and Daniel Kakono.

Major General Kakono currently serves as the Commander of the Field Artillery Division, while Byanyima and Sande lead the Motorised Infantry Division and the Armoured Division, respectively.

Major General Felix Kulayigye, the Director of Defence Public Information, said the promotions align with the new establishment and recognise the officers' flawless track records of excellent service.

"The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and the UPDF fraternity congratulate the General officers on their well-deserved promotions," Gen. Kulayigye said in a statement.

In December last year, five Brigadier Generals were elevated to the rank of Acting Major General.

Among those promoted were Stephen Mugerwa, Commander of the 1st Infantry Division of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), and Paul Muhanguzi, Commander of the 2nd Infantry Division.

Also promoted were Felix Busizori and Keith Katungi, who command the 4th and 5th Infantry Divisions, respectively.
