Plans are underway to return the body of Cedric Babu Ndilima, a prominent Ugandan media personality, sports administrator, and political figure, who passed away at the age of 46.
He died on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, after a prolonged battle with severe heart failure.
Return of the Body
The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), where Cedric served as Vice Chairman for Kampala, has announced that his body is expected to return from Nairobi on Wednesday or Thursday.
The leadership of PLU is convening today, Monday, to commence preparations for the funeral.
“We expect the body to be back from Nairobi on Wednesday or Thursday. Once we have confirmed the day of the return, that will give us the plan for the funeral,” said Michael Mawanda, the Director of Mobilisation for PLU.

Mawanda expressed deep sorrow over Cedric's untimely death at such a young age.
He noted Cedric's passion for sports, particularly his role as patron of the PLU Sports Club, and his aspirations to contest in the upcoming elections.
“He was a sports enthusiast, and sports was one of the channels we were using to mobilise the youth in PLU. He was the patron of the PLU Sports Club. That was why he was keen to contest in Kampala in the coming elections,” he said

Tributes and Legacy
Cedric Babu's passing has elicited tributes from various sectors. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Defence Forces and President of PLU, described him as a "brother, close friend, and comrade in the struggle," praising his versatility and dedication to public service.
Gen. Kainerugaba noted Cedric's excellence in tennis, his entrepreneurial success, and his courageous participation in politics, stating, "Where many children of Uganda's elite families eschew politics, Cedric had the courage to participate in the governance of his country."
The Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC), where Cedric previously hosted "The Cedric Live Show," honoured him as a "valued member of the UBC family," acknowledging the vibrance and insight he brought to the screen.
Cedric is survived by his wife and three sons.
