Pastor Alysius Bugingo yesterday responded to the recent public backlash about the delayed construction of the 35,000-seater church complex known as the “Pentagon”
Bugingo, days earlier, had sparked public concerns, revealing that the over Shs 3 billion collected so far for the project was “insufficient to even commence the laying of the church foundation.”
Temporry structure
Reactions, mostly on social media, queried the pastor’s future plans, while others urged him to at least erect a temporary structure to save his weekly congregants from adverse weather conditions.
Yesterday, however, the senior pastor of the House of Prayer Ministries addressed these calls, revealing that building a temporary shelter is not part of his plan.
He termed those pushing the narrative as “political enemies” and “barking village dogs”
I've been hearing them say that we should use the money we have to build a smaller temporary church, or that we should buy a new tent and replace the old one.
Others say we should buy pavers to limit the mud and dust. Why don’t you go do that at your own churches?

Misconstrued message
Bugingo explained, however, that his earlier message was misunderstood and that he never implied that the money he has is not enough for the church foundation.
On the contrary, he said, he remains hesitant to start the construction without financial assurance that the project will be completed.
Besides, Bugingo noted that a foundation for such a grand project would be so deep that it would render the space unusable for Sunday services.
The pastor urged his followers to carry on with the contributions toward teh project and pay no attention to the outsiders.
