Betty Nakibuuka, the mother of rising gospel star Baby Gloria, has shared her emotional journey of overcoming hardships to raise a child who would become a public figure.

In a televised interview, Nakibuuka opened up about her struggles as a young woman, her hustle with her mother, and how her life transformed once her music career began.

Reflecting on her humble beginnings, Nakibuuka said, "God has brought me from afar. He has done great things in my life."

She recalled a time when her family lived in a small shack that flooded every time it rained.

"My first job was selling juice at a brewery company where I was paid Shs 280"

She described a life filled with hardship, often scavenging food from the market and using leftover charcoal to survive.

Raising a Celebrity Child

Fast forward to today, Nakibuuka's life has dramatically changed. She proudly shared that her daughter, Gloria, was attending an international school with a fee of $1500, but because of Gloria's celebrity status, she managed to secure a school endorsement, lowering the fees to $1000.

Her siblings also attended international schools, showcasing the sacrifices Nakibuuka made for her children's education.

When it was time for Gloria to go to university, Nakibuuka didn't hesitate to cover the costs. She rented an upscale home for her daughter in Kololo, one of the most prestigious areas in Uganda, with rent priced at $850.

The decision to keep Gloria in a private residence instead of a student hostel was made to protect her from being tracked down by fans and the public.

A Mother’s Dedication

Despite the high costs, Nakibuuka remained unwavering in her commitment to her children's well-being.

"She was quite an expensive child," Nakibuuka admitted. "But I was able to do it because of God."

Through her hard work and dedication, Nakibuuka was able to provide her children with opportunities she never had, including purchasing a bungalow for her mother in Najjanankumbi.
