Proscovia Nabbanja, Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), has been shortlisted for the prestigious Big Five Board Awards 2025 under the category "Leading Women in African Oil & Gas."
This recognition highlights her exceptional leadership and contributions to the African energy sector.
The Big Five Board Awards are among the most respected honours in Africa’s oil and gas industry, celebrating individuals who drive innovation, transformation, and inclusive leadership.
The awards ceremony will take place during the Africa Energies Summit in London on 15th May 2025, bringing together industry leaders to acknowledge outstanding achievements in the sector.
Nabbanja's Leadership at UNOC
Proscovia Nabbanja assumed the role of CEO at UNOC on 1st October 2019, after serving as Acting CEO from August 2019.
Prior to her appointment, she was the Chief Operating Officer for Upstream at UNOC and held various positions within the Petroleum Exploration and Production Department of Uganda's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.
With over 23 years of experience in the petroleum sector, Nabbanja has been instrumental in shaping Uganda's energy landscape, focusing on sustainable development and national participation in the oil and gas industry.

Nabbanja's leadership has been previously recognised; she was awarded the 'CEO of the Year' at the African Energy Week in Cape Town in 2022.
