Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) has temporarily stopped all commuter and passenger train services between Kampala and Mukono after a track embankment failure at Namanve.
In a public notice issued on April 6, 2025, URC said the disruption will last from April 6 to April 14, affecting all train operations along the route.
The Managing Director of URC said the failure has made it unsafe to continue train services for now.
"Our technical team is currently on site and working tirelessly to restore the affected infrastructure," the Managing Director stated. "We are committed to ensuring that train services resume safely and efficiently by April 14, 2025."
URC apologised to passengers and the general public for the inconvenience and thanked them for their patience and understanding during this period.
For updates or inquiries, passengers can contact URC's customer service or the Head of Public Relations and Communications.
The URC also urged the public to follow its official communication channels for timely information.
