Why Makerere administrator accused of rape was granted bail

Suspended Makerere University senior administrator Edward Kisuze was on Friday granted bail by the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate James Mawanda Eremye.

Mr. Kisuze faces two charges, including attempted rape and indecent assault after a student shared a photo of the administrator in a conflicting position offering oral sex.

Court granted the suspended administrator a cash bail of UGX2m -- and presented four sureties -- with each surety ordered to sign a bond of UGX10m.

The bail was granted after defense said the applicant is a "man of reputation basing on the office he holds at Makerere University".

His defence also said their would not interfere with the investigations which are already complete.

Mr. Kisuze has been in prison on remand since 4th May after denying the charges against him.
