General Court Martial has revealed why the embattled Boda Boda 2010 chairperson Abdallah Kitatta is currently being detained under a military facility yet he is a civilian.
Abdallah Kitatta is believed to be a loyal aide to the former Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura.
Kitata and other 10 people were charged with offences related to unlawful possession of military hardware.
General Court Martial Chairperson Lt. Gen. Andrew Guti revealed that Kitatta is being detained at Makindye military facility for his own safety.
“He is there for his own safety. He knows what he has done to this world. The health facility we have (at Makindye) is excellent to handle his ailment,” he said.
This was after Kitatta’s lawyers requested court to transfer Kitatta from the Makindye based military detention facility because of his illness.
The trial against Kitatta and other co-accused will commence on April 23rd, 2018.
The offences against the accused attract a maximum sentence of death or life imprisonment.
