U.S. tourist dies after wasp attack in Bwindi National Park

She is the 9th foreigner to die since February

A 65-year-old American tourist was killed on Thursday by a swarm of wasps in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the southwestern Ugandan district of Rubanda, according to a police statement.

Police authorities say Gloria Suemiller, a resident of Oklahoma, was stung by the wasps while trekking mountain gorillas and died suddenly.

Suemiller crossed from the tiny East African country of Rwanda together with seven other tourists, including her husband, White Gary Lynn.

The area police spokesperson said the deceased was attacked by wasps at once and as the rest escaped unhurt.

In April, a British tourist died collapsed and died while on an adventurous tour with his friends in the hills of Kabale District.

So far, 9 foreigners have died in the country since February from several causes.
