Authorities say the suspects broke into the warehouse around 1 am "after beating surveillance and assessing the security weaknesses".

Their plan to steal the safe containing UGX82m was foiled by foot patrollers who "were later reinforced by motorised patrol", according to a police statement.

The two suspects are currently in police custody at Jinja Road Police Station.

They will assist investigations in connection to the attempted office burglary.
