Muwada & Co. Advocates law firm has written to the Inspector General of Police Okoth Ochola to intervene after socialite Bryan White allegedly used armed police officers to kidnap and detain a local famous Facebook blogger Kato Ashiraph famously known as Ashburg.
In a statement seen by Pulse Live Uganda, Ashburg's legal team alleges that their client is being illegally detained at Katwe Police Station after he was kidnapped by armed officers on Bryan White's orders.
They want their client released with immediate effect and ensure his safety.
Ashburg was reportedly intimidated and forced to confess on camera during interrogation in the office of the OC CID Katwe, according to a statement by the law firm.
The law firm wants the top security organs, including Ministry of Security, to investigate the links between Bryan White and some of the police officers being used to carry out such unlawful orders.
"We wonder why Uganda Police Force continue to keep a blind eye on a civilian in illegal use of arms and armed personnel, and misuse of officers... we invite the Minister of Security to make known the portfolio of Bryan White and why he has remained unchecked as he wields a lot command over security agencies and conducts himself with impunity," part of the statement reads.
The statement further asserts that Ashburg was threatened by police officers saying the city socialite was "ready to kill him and has enough armed men that can finish him unless he apologises to him".
This is not the first time the Facebook blogger has found himself in the clamps of Bryan White; last year, he was reportedly kidnapped and detained illegally at the socialite's home in Munyonyo.
